I’ve been on a fresh herb kick before the freezes come. I put together an omelette today using fresh chives and thyme from the herb garden, with some fresh zucchini.

We had a duo of mallards visit our pond over the weekend and really enjoyed watching them paddle around.

A Dozen

March 5, 2015 by Cailin Leave a Comment

The chickens have been laying about 4-6 eggs a day recently. We had enough to give away our first dozen. I reused an egg carton and made a fun sticker to go over it. We’ve definitely been enjoying our hens and eggs and hope that Vivienne or Colette will lay us a blue/green egg for Easter. 🙂

VIDEO: Alpenglow over Mount Shasta

March 5, 2015 by Cailin Leave a Comment

A short time-lapse video Tim made of the alpenglow over Mt. Shasta from our backyard. It’s something different every evening and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it.

Night Sky

February 17, 2015 by Cailin Leave a Comment

A beautiful sky at night. It’s nice to see snow as opposed to last year’s bare mountain.

Valentine’s Cross-country

February 17, 2015 by Cailin Leave a Comment

bfsIt was a warm day in Mt. Shasta today. We went up to Sand Flat to cross-country ski. We took a trail that ended above Avalanche Gulch at Bunny Flat. It was so warm, we even saw a one shirtless skier. And there were so many people at Bunny Flat, if felt like we were at the beach! -Cailin
